A (not so) blue Monday

As I was walking along the canal this morning, I crossed paths with a smiley stranger. His smile was infectious - all I could do was gratefully receive his positive energy and smile back. I had to thank him. I took out my headphone and said, “you’re so smiley!” He paused for a moment, looked out in front of him and then turned to me and replied, “I’m very happy this morning.”

We exchanged warm wishes for the day ahead and then carried on in opposite directions. A not so blue Monday… AH! A not so blue Monday. That’s my next blog title – so thank you, smiley stranger, for sharing your light and sparking inspiration.

So…

Hello! I hope you are settling well into the New Year. I hope you are taking the time you need to settle in. I commend you if only now you are feeling the impulse to stretch a little, wiggle your toes and open your eyes, recovering from being catapulted overnight from one year into the next. A dear friend once shared with me that they don’t truly feel grounded in the New Year until March, when the invitation of new beginnings feels more natural to embrace.

In the same breath, I commend you if have alchemised the momentum of New Years and are already making your way through this transitory period with faith and with vibrancy - hurrah!

But hey, either sudden or slow, we are shifting and working hard to overcome all that we so adamantly promised to leave behind last year… such pressure.

I’m not a massive fan of New Year’s resolutions; I prefer the idea of a New Year’s Revolution! An internal uprising of Love, guiding your experiences 365 days of the year. 365 daily acts of love-centred newness! Of inviting possibility into your life. Making a commitment to seek a new way to experience love each and every day. How different your year will look, and expansive your heart will feel. Love is a practice. Choosing to live a life of loving awareness is more than a resolution, it is a revolution. You absolutely deserve this adventure! Year after year.

Revolutions aside, possibility and change do not solely belong to the Gregorian calendar. It can happen whenever. Possibility exists in all spaces, in all seasons and mostly importantly, infinitely within us. Possibility patiently awaits the moment to be noticed and transformed.

But… shaking things up is much easier said than done. Should this stop you? Absolutely not. Commit to your wings! As another lovely friend said to me in the car last weekend - “feel the fear and do it anyway!”

Feel the LOVE and do it anyway! Feel the love!!!

Making changes in your life can feel deeply uncomfortable before it feels liberating, but trust me, it’s worth it. Change is simply the work of acceptance, the acknowledgment that we are forever evolving, in a constant cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Moving away from suffocating attachments, making space for healthy connections. It’s worth the hard work of freeing yourself of spaces, situations and people that no longer serve your path. This applies to your internal world too – we are all working on freeing ourselves of thoughts and belief systems that aren’t serving our journey towards living a life of more ease, love and acceptance.  Towards a life open to possibility.

What do I mean by no longer serve your path? For whatever reason, it no longer serves your growth and aspirations, in a kind, loving and supportive manner. In a way that makes you feel safe. There isn’t any malice, there is no blame, it is just time to let go and move on. You were never expected to hold onto everything you’ve ever known, experienced or loved. Listen to your intuition and if it is time to move on from something, give yourself permission to let go, with love.

You are here to evolve.

It is not for me to say what ease and acceptance looks or feels like to you, but know you are deserving of living a life where you are at peace with who you are, you are inspired and energised by the life you are creating and you experience the love that surrounds you, through people and through purpose.

This can all exist, and it does exist within the realm of possibility. Possibility in both the smallest and grandest of ways. It can be anything… following an intuitive thought, listening more deeply in a conversation, embracing a new connection, surrendering over and over again, having the confidence to say “I don’t know what I’m doing right now” or “I don’t know where I’m going” - all of this, courageous and brave! And being open to encounter newness. If we settle for stagnancy, how can possibility enter our life?

If you do not seek possibility, possibility will not seek you.

You are an artist of life. Creativity exists at your core. Root yourself in that. (And keep an eye out for smiley humans!)

All is possible.

With love, always,

Jessica x
